Diversity, inclusion, compliance, equity
(D.I.C.E.)
The Hudson Eye, operated by Jonah Bokaer Arts Foundation, is committed to fostering a culturally equitable, inclusive, diverse, accessible and anti-racist industry within the field of performing arts, visual arts, dance forms, exhibition forms, arts administration - and related forms.
Use Of Language
Cultural equity embodies values, policies, and practices that ensure all people—including but not limited to those who have been historically underrepresented based on race/ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, socioeconomic status, geography, citizenship status, or religion—are represented in the development of arts policy; the support of artists; the nurturing of accessible, thriving venues for expression; and the fair distribution of programmatic, financial, and informational resources.
The term "historically underrepresented groups" includes people who identify themselves as women, Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), Latinx, Asian and/or Pacific Islander (API), Middle Eastern and/or North African and/or South Asian (MENASA), people with disabilities, within the LGBTQIA+ community, genderqueer or non-binary, or those who identify with a religion, culture, age, ethnicity, nationality, or alienage that have been historically excluded in performance productions, or people having an intersection of these identities.
Acknowledgements & AffirmationsThe Hudson Eye recognizes that within and outside of the United States, there are systems of power that unequally grant privilege and access, resulting in inequity and injustice: these systems must be continuously addressed and changed, as a core part of our work. Cultural equity is critical to the long-term viability of the arts sector, and the performing arts field.
The Hudson Eye affirms that all populations deserve equal access to resources and opportunities related to artistic support, career development in the arts, and recognition within the field. We recognize that we must hold ourselves accountable, because acknowledging and challenging our inequities and working in partnership is how we can enact change.
